Study on the Productivity Level Comparison of Different Coix Varieties(Lines)

The study aims to explore new varieties of Coix suitable for cultivation in Yunnan Province, thus toimprove the productivity level of Coix planted in Yunnan. By comparing test of 10 Coix lines that were plantedin areas of Wenshan, Yunnan, agronomic traits(growth period, plant height, stem diameter, number of tillersper plant, total fruit number, hundred- kernel weight, etc.) were analyzed and yields were compared. Theresults showed that:(1) effective tiller number, total fruit number per plant and seed weight were positivelycorrelated with yield, and the yield was significantly correlated with hundred-kernel weight;(2) lines of YLOand Y7-1 had features such as shorter growing period, shorter plants, thin stems, compact plant type, lodgingresistance, etc., both of them were ideal plant types;(3) Y9- 7, Y3- 4, and Y12- 2(black) were the late-maturing varieties, they had good features in hundred-kernel weight, grain appearance and yield;(4) YGL andWen Yi II were late-maturing varieties, both of them had the growing period between 150 to 155 days, andshowed good plant height, tillering ability, stem diameter and high biomass production, however, lowereconomic output;(5) the tested varieties(lines) Y9-7, Y3-4 and Y12-2(black) had obvious advantages, andwere in line with selection of high quality, high-yielding new varieties(lines) from comprehensive agronomic traits, yield, adaptation and other indicators.
