Effect of Salt Stress on Diurnal Variation of Photosynthesis of Nitraria tangutorum and Tamarix chinensis

In order to select salt-tolerant plants for planting in saline soil, 2-year-old Nitraria tangutorum and Tamarix chinensis were used as experimental materials, Na Cl concentration gradient was set as 0(CK), 100(Y1), 200(Y2), 400(Y3), 600(Y4) mmol/L, and photosynthetic diurnal variation was studied under salt stress.The results showed that:(1) the variation trend of the average photosynthetic rate(Pn) of Nitraria tangutorum and Tamarix chinensis under salt stress condition and non-salt stress condition were basically the same;(2) thephotosynthetic ability of Nitraria tangutorum was stronger than that of Tamarix chinensis;(3) the decline rate ofaverage daily net photosynthetic rate(Pn) and carboxylation efficiency(CE) of Nitraria tangutorum was greaterthan that of Tamarix chinensis with the increase of salt concentration; the water use efficiency(WUE) of Tamarix chinensis under salt stress was higher than that under non- salt stress, but the WUE of Nitraria tangutorum was higher than CK only in treatment Y1 and Y2, and the WUE of Tamarix chinensis was alwaysgreater than that of Nitraria tangutorum;(4) Tamarix chinensis began to appear non-stomatal limitation causedby salt- stress from treatment Y3, and Nitraria tangutorum began from treatment Y1. In summary, the salttolerance of Tamarix chinensis is stronger than that of Nitraria tangutorum and it is more suitable for plantingin the study area.
