THE CORRELATION OF PHOTOSYNTHETIC CHARACTERS WITH THE YIELDING CHARACTERS IN WHEAT

A significant correlation between the photosynthetic characters and the yielding characters was presented in wheat. The correlation of the photosynthesis rate in booting stage with the number of grain of main spike indicated significantly, correlation coefficient is 0.527. The correlation of photosynthesis rate during anthesis with the weight of 1000 kernels was positive. Correlation coefficient is 0.756. Regression coefficient is 0.956. The correlation between the photosynthesis rate in milking stage and the weight of 1000 kernels was negetive. Correlation coefficient is-0.734. Regression coefficient is-93.7. The hybrids selected for photosynthesis rate possess higher correlation between the photosynthesis rate and the yielding characters in their progenies. Coefficient in F_3 raised to 0.811. The correlation of photorespiration rate with the weight of 1000 kernels indicated significantly negetive, correlation coefficient is 0.521. The correlation of number of stomata with fresh weight per unit leaf area and photosynthesis rate with weight of 1000 kernels are identical.
