EFFECTS OF THE COMBINED USE OF ORGANIC MANURE AND MINERAL N FERTILIZER ON THE QUALITIES OF VEGETABLES

This report covers the results of studies on the utilization of organic manures with mineral N fertilizer. Tested vegetables in the experiment were Chinese cabbage, spinach, three-coloured amaranth, lettuce. cabbage, sweet pepper, eggplant and tomato. Vegetable edible parts were smpled for analysis of the contents of NO_3 N, NO_2 N, Viat-min-C, K, Ca, total carbohydrate, sugar, glucose, frutose, maltose,etc. Results are as follows:1. Compared with single application of mineral N fertilizer, manuring in combination with mineral N fertilizer or single manuring decreased the NO_3 -N and NO_2 -N contents in edible parts of vegetables by 29-728ppm and 0.16-0.41 ppm respectively. The effects on spinach and Chinese cabbage were better than on others.2. Vitamin-C increased 2.8-9.1mg/100g in the combined treatment in comparasion with the use of fertilizer alone.3. Ca increased by35-256 ppm and K increased by 280-400ppm in sweet pepper and eggplant in the combined treatment.4. As compared with the use of N fertilizer alone, higher carbohydrates in cabbage and lettuce were obtained in the combined treatment. The total carbohydrates and fructose increased by 0.12-0.34% and 0.11-0.17% respectively. N_8 differences in glucose and maltose were shown in different treatments.5. In comparison with the use of N fertilization alone, the rot rate of Chinese cabbage, cabbage,(?) c, during their storage at 20+3℃ was decreased by 29.8-40.1%in the combined treatment.
