Studies on Developmental Genetics of the Tiller Numbers in Three-line Indica Hybrid Rice

Developmental genetic behavior of the tiller numbers in two groups of three-line indica hybrid rice (Oryza sativa L.) from NCⅡ mating system was studied by using additive-dominant developmental genetic models and corresponding statistical methods. The results showed that the dominant effects were predominant for the tiller numbers. The expression of additive effect genes was affected by environment and genotype interaction for the tiller number, but the expression of dominant effect genes was not affected. Heterosis was strongest at middle developmental stage for the tiller numbers along with the developmental course. Additive effect genes and dominant effect ones were selectively expressed in the whole tillering developmental stage. Genetic correlations between the tiller number of different stages and the effective panicles were analyzed .The results indicated that it appeared to be earlier showing the most close correlation between them in the population with heterosis, otherwise it was deferred. Utilization of heterosis at middle tilling stage might enhance the final biomass and reduce the percentage of effective panicles.
