With the Indica Zhe 852,Japonica Zhehu 3 and Hybrid Shanyou 10 as trial material under pot test condition, the relation between percentage of ear-bearing of colony in the middle phase and photosynthesis efficiency in the late in rice was studied with ̄(14)CO_2 tracing. The results were as follows; The higher the percentage of ear-bearing of colony in the middle phase, the stronger the photosynthesis intensity of leaf after the heading stage, and thus the productive force of dry matter of colony at the milking stage was increased. The respiratory dissipation was less for the high colony ear-bearing rate with fewer stems and tillers in unit area than for the low colony ear-bearing rate with more stems and tillers in unit area, which was more useful to accumulate photosynthates; In addition,as the percentage of photosynthate distribution to ears was increased, the economic coefficient was significantly increased.
