This study was undertaken to determine the present distribution of locus of enterocyte effacement pathogenicity island(LEE) and high pathogenicity island(HPI) among strains of E.coli isolated from pigs from 9 provinces in China. One thousand and seven E.coli isolates were collected for the detection of genes of irp2,fyuA,ler and eaeA by a multiplex PCR,and serogrouped using O-antisera of E.coli.Among these E.coli isolates,2.2%(22/1 007) of the isolates possessed the genes of ler and eaeA,0.5%(5/1 007) strains only harboured the gene of eaeA,10.6%(107/1 007) of strains had the genes of irp2/fyuA and 2.1%(21/1 007) only held irp2.Of all these isolates, two strains possessed the genes of irp2 and ler, three strains harboured the gene of irp2,ler and eaeA,and one strain had the genes of irp2,fyuA,ler and eaeA.The 27 isolates carrying the genes of LEE,these isolates distributed in 11 O serogroups. The 128 isolates containing the genes of HPI distributed in 32 serogroups different, whereas 18.0% of them belonged to O93 and O107.However uncommon O serogroups were also discovered in this study.
