Settlement prediction method of embankment on soft ground under staged loading

Stagn construction is a typical procedure for construction of embankment on soft ground.Based on the traditional hyperbolic method,a new model for prediction of settlement of stagewise constructed embankment on soft ground is presented in this paper.Soil has nonlinearly,and its consolidation character varies with the magnitude of the load in the model.Two cases study shows that predicted settlement is fairly consistent with the measured settle- ment.The proposed model is accurate and easy to operate,and can predict settlement in practical engineering in time.
