Industrial Orientation of Liaoning Coastal Area

HUANG Jing1,XIANG Wei2(1.Academy of Disaster Reduction and Emergency Management,Beijing Normal University,Beijing 100875,China;2.Institute of Economic Research,NDRC,Beijing 100038,China)
Economic globalization provides new development opportunities for coastal areas.Due to limited availability of both development land and important raw and processed materials, some inland industries have moved to coastal areas of China. This development process requires additional research. In the new phase of coastal development,Liaoning Province has adopted a strategy of "Five Points and One Axis" to quicken the pace of development in this area. The industrial structure of the area is the key factor of development, but is limited by several factors, such as interaction with the interior and improved utilization of regional resources. In the coastal area of Liaoning, industries should be selected in accordance with major regional functions,so that the development of Liaoning can help to revitalize Northeast China. Thus, coastal industries should follow such principles as port development, development of unique characteristics, industry clusters, and high efficiency and modernization.High-tech industries should be at the forefront, and heavy chemical industries are a dominant factor, while logistics, tourism industries and modern agriculture are also included. The area should strengthen the role of Dalian City and Yingkou City based on high levels of industry in Dalian and rapid development in Yingkou, and these two cities will lead the development process.
