Effects of Compound Rehmannia on Learning and Memory Abilities in Senile Dementia Mice Induced by D-galactose

Objective:To study the effects of compound rehmannia on learning and memory abilities in senile dementia mice induced by D-galactose.Method:The senile dementia model mice were established by D-galactose hypodermic injection for 6 weeks and then given compound rehmannia in therapeutic group and the same volume of normal saline in the control.The learning and memory ability of all mice were test with Y-type maze,Nitric oxide(NO) and Superoxide dismutase(SOD) in brain were determined afterward.Result: Compared with control group,the learning and memory abilities in model group were lowered(P 0.01).After given compound rehmannia all the abilities were significantly improved(P 0.01).Conclusion: compound rehmannia can improve the leaning and memory abilities.
