Effects of CE on Immuno-organ Index and Neurosystem Changes of Subacute Aging Mice

Objective To study the anti-aging effects of CE,an effective extract isolated from a Tibetan traditional herbal medicine,on amnestic mice induced by D-galactose and NaNO_(2).Methods The aging mice were(induced) by consecutive ip injection of D-galactose(120 mg/kg body weight) and NaNO_(2)(90 mg/kg body weight).The thymus index and spleen index were calculated to evaluate the function of immunosystem.The HE staining of hippocampus sections was performed to reveal neuron morphological changes.The expressions of APP,Tau and NT-3 protein in brain tissue were studied by immunohistochemical staining.Results Compared with the(D-galactose) and NaNO_(2) group,CE(2.5、5、10 mg/kg body weight,po) increased the index of thymus and spleen remarkably.Combined injection of D-galactose and NaNO_(2) resulted in the number of APP,Tau positive cells(increased) remarkably and those of NT-3 decreased.CE(2.5、5、10 mg/kg body weight,po) could rectify these changes.Conclusions These results indicate that CE could exert protect effects on the aging mice of consecutive injection of D-galactose and NaNO_(2).
