Cucumber Resistance Induced by Pathogens to Fungal Diseases

A study was carried out to determine if pathogens could induce cross-protection of cucumber a- gainst the diseases caused by itself or other pathogens.A correlation between the protection effect and in- oculation concentration,inoculation interval,and cultivars was confirmed.There was no positive correla- tion between the protection effect and induction concentration.The best relative effect of cross-protection was found when spore concentration of Cladosporium cucumerinum was adjusted to 1×10~2 spores/ml for 48 h interval.And it was much better in resistant cuhivars than in susceptible ones.Meanwhile,after challenged by Corynespora cassiicola (CC) the cucumber induced by Colletotrichum orbiculare (CO) pro- duced great resistance to brown-spot,but that increased the development of anthracnose.The control ef- fect to brown-spot was 92.07% after inducing with CO and challenging with CC for 12 d.
