The antiviral mechanism of herbs was determined by changing the different ways of drug administration (before, after or at the same time with the virus respectively). Results showed that extracts from Radix isatidis had strong anti-virus effect in vitro, the crude extracts of Forsythia suspensa (Thunb.) Vahl and Radix astragali could inhibit the development of PRRSV as well as Astragali polysaccharide (APS).
