A new category of 3D grain structure model for stereology

In the present paper, stereology are classified into the basic equations, the relations based on unbiased sampling principle which is specially designed, and the relations based on model(s). The rationality of the last category strongly depends on the degree of the similarity between the model and the structure researched.By means of the modified Monte Carlo method, a threedimensional simulation model nore realistic than the classic singleshaped grain models and stochastic geometric models was built.Through threedimensional measurement on the simulated structure, it is expected to further improve the previous modelbased stereological calculation method for grain size distribution.
