A collection of 280 single spore strains from 9 isolates of verticil-
lium wilt of cotton in eight provinces (Liaoning, Hepei,Henan,Shanxi
Sichuan, Yunnan,Xinjiang, Jiangsu) of China has been studied. All of
them are identified to belong to the species Verticillium dahliae Kleb. How-
ever there are certain differences existing in these single spore strains
regarding to the size, shape and amount of microsclerotia produced, and
the growth rate of the colonies at 30℃.Some strains differ also in patho-
genicity to cotton. All such deviations are considered as merely physio-
logical differentiations.
