Preliminary predication of potential distribution of Radopholus similis in China by CLIMEX

Radopholus similis is the one of important pests parasitic to fruits in tropical zone. Temperature and moisture are the key factors determining its distribution. We used the computer model, CLIMEX to predict the borrowing nematode’s potential distribution in China. Eighteen variables were used. A starting set of parameter values was selected based on knowledge of burrowing nematode response to climatic extremes. An iterative parameter fitting method was used to generate a map showing ecoclimatic index (EI ) at meteorological stations across Australia here the geographic distribution of burrowing nematode is known. The predicate suggests that lot of provinces, municipalities and separate counties in China are suit for development of burrowing nematode besides some small areas including the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Qinghai Province,the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Jilin Province and Anxi, Yumen in Gansu Province. Liaoning Province, Tibet and North China are margin areas of distribution of Radopholus similis.The climate is very suitable for development of burrowing nematode(EI≥20) in East China(besides Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province), South China, Central China, southwest China(besides Tibet).
