Spectrophotometric simultaneous determination of phenol and resorcinol in compound preparations by principal component linear regression method

Objective:To develop a method for the simultaneous determination of phenol and resorcinol.Methods:At the wavelength range of 250~290 nm, absorbances of phenol and resorcinol were determined internal 0.5 nm.Principal component linear regression method was set up to use for determination of phenol and resorcinol.25 mixture standard resolutions were prepared as orthogonal projection form L_(25)(5~6).Two kinds of the components were linearly regressed.At the same time, the content of phenol and resorcinol in six synthetic mixture samples and simulation pharmaceutical preparations were measured.Results:The relative error of phenol and resorcinol were a bit larger individually, and most of the analytical results′ relative error was less than 5%.The results are satisfactory.Conclusion:The measurement system is stable and reliable.Therefore, the principal component linear regression method may provide a new approach to determine phenol and resorcinol in their compound preparations.
