Determination of dibutyl phthalate and bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate in cosmetics by high performance liquid chromatography

Objective:A method for the determination of DBP and DEHP in cosmetics by HPLC was established.Methods:Samples were extracted by solid phase extraction,and eluting solvent was methanol: ethyl ester=1:19.Methanol and water were applied as mobile phase,DBP and DEHP were determined by PDA detector.Results:The linear ranges of method,linear correlation coefficients,recovery rates and relative standard deviations were 5.0~200 μg/ml,0.9993,84%~93% and 3.2%~4.8% for DBP and 5.5~220 μg/ml,0.9997,98%~105%,2.8%~4.7% for DEHP,respectively.Conclusion:The method is high sensitive,accurate and highly reproducible,and is suitable for the determination of DBP and DEHP in cosmetics.
