Clinical value of serum albumin electrophorsis for multiple myeloma

Objective:To investigate diagnosic value of serum protein electrophoresis for multiple myeloma.Methods:The patients of outpatient service and hospitalization in our hospital were measured for M band,ligh chain,kappa,Lambda and kappa/lambda then total protein,globulins by agarose gel electrophoresis to analyze relationship on those data.Results:A total of 201 band and 15 MM of 12049 patients were respectively 1.74% and 7.1% in M protidemia.κ type of multiple myeloma was obviously higher than healthy group(P0.001).λ type was lower than that,benign M protein illness slightly higher than those(P0.05) in serum Kappa determination.κ type of multiple myeloma.was obviously lower than health group(P0.001).λ type was noticeably higher than that(P0.001),benign M protein illness slightly lower than those(P0.05) in serum Lambda determination.κ type of multiple myeloma.was obviously higher than health group(P0.001).λ type was noticeably lower than that(P0.001),benign M protein illness had no difference(P0.05) in κ/λ determination.IgG,TP,GLB of multiple myeloma was obviously higher than benign M protein illness group(P0.001).Conclusion:M protein determination is a sensitive means for early detecting multiple myeloma in serum protein electrophoresis.
