Improved method for determination of 8 dyes in oxidative hair dye

Objective:The analytical method for the determination of 8 dyes in hair dying formulations by HPLC-DAD in "Hygienic standard for cosmetics"of 2007 edition was improved to achieve better detection results.Methods: The target analytes were separated on C18 column and guard column with acetonitrile + 1% triethanolamine phosphate buffer solution(pH = 7.7) as mobile phase.The injection volume was 5 μl and the wavelength was set at 280 nm by DAD.Results: The linear ranges of hydroquinone,p-aminophenol,o-phenylenediamine,resorcinol,p-phenylenediamine,toluene2,5-diamine,p-methylaminophenol and o-aminophenol were 50 μg/ml~250 μg/ml,while the lowest detection limits were 0.003 μg,0.003 μg,0.003 μg,0.004 μg,0.003 μg,0.005 μg,0.02 μg and 0.004 μg respectively.The method had high precision,the RSD was 0.9%~2.0%,and the recovery varied from 95% to 104%.Conclusion: This method was speedy,easy to operate,with good separation results.
