Method for extracting and purifying total flavones from Herba Epimedii

Objective: To set up a method and a standard of quality for extracting and purifying flavones from Herba Epimedii. Methods: The solvent extracting and column chromatography separation were used to obtain the total flavones. Spectrophotometry was used to measure total content of flavones. Results: The content of total flavones was 54% in the extracted samples. Conclusions: A highly practicable and simple method and a standard of quality are established for extracting and purifying flavones from the Herba Epimedii.
