Review of Preparation Methods of Zirconium Metal

The properties and application of zirconium were described.Merits and demerits of magnesium reduction,molten salt electrolysis and FFC process were compared,their application status and development trend were also analyzed.The trend of magnesium reduction method was to develop continuous process and recycling technique of magnesium chloride electrolysis.As to the molten salt electrolysis,technique of continuous production and high current efficiency should be developed;and the deoxygenation rate and current efficiency the FFC process should be further improved.
