Coping styles:measurement and classification

A:self-developed 16-item coping style questionnaire was administered to 282 healty adults and 348patients to assess its reliability and validity.The factor analyses of the questionnaire obtained two categories of copingstyles:positive coping(CP)vs negative coping(CN),each-with 8 items.Cronbach α for CN and CP subscale were 0.72and 0.69,respectively.Test—retest correlation with 4—week interval was 0.80 for CN and 0.62 for CP.The resultsdemonstrated that CP correlated significantly with classic measures of psychological well—being,0.48 with SCL-90,0.23 with SD,and 0.37 with SAS,while CP showed no significant correlation with scales mentioned above.
