Clinical Efficacy of Hypnotherapy in the Treatment of Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Objective:To compare the clinical efficacy of hypnotherapy and Alprazolam in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder.Methods:62 generalized anxiety disorder patients were randomly divided into two groups:experimental group(n=32)and control group(n=30).The experimental group received twice hypnotherapy (30~40 minutes each time)at out-patient department every week.The control group received only Alprazolam 0.8mg twice everyday and consulted doctors twice a week.Both groups were measured with HAMA,SAS before the treat- ment and at the end of 2 and 4 weeks after the treatment.Results:The responsive rate of the experimental group was 25/32,which was equal to that of the control group 26/30(x~2=0.43,P0.05),The recovery rate of experimental group and control group were 9.4%、10.0% respectively.Conclusion:Hypnotherapy is effective in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder with good compliance.
