The Effect of Family Intervention on Family Environment and the Parental Rearing Pattern of Children with ADHD

Objective: To investigate the effect of family intervention on family environment and the Parental rearing pattern of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD).Methods:86 cases of children with ADHD were randomly divided into the intervention group(42 cases) and the control group(44 cases).The control group were routinely treated with drug and health education;and the intervention group were subjected to family intervention,such as parents training,home visiting,etc.besides that for one year.All cases were assessed by Family Environment Scale-Chinese Version(FES-CV) and Egma Minnen av Barndoms Uppfostran(EMBU) and Conners PSQ before and after intervention.Results: In the intervention group,the scales of factors of family cohesion(7.8±2.1 / 6.3±2.0,t=3.27),emotion expression(5.9±0.6 / 4.5±0.6,t=10.60),intellectual culture(5.5±1.1 / 4.6±1.6,t=2.99),achievement orientation(7.3±1.2 / 6.3±1.3,t=3.69) were significantly higher,while of conflict(2.1×1.2 / 3.0±1.4,t=3.15),Control(3.6±2.2 / 4.7±1.7,t=3.62) were significantly lower than the control group(P0.05);However the scale of being cared(50.0±6.8 / 45.0±5.6,t=3.62;53.7±7.3 / 47.3±8.6,t=3.71)was higher,while the scales of factors of punishment(16.2±4.6 / 20.9±5.3,t=4.41;11.4±3.6 / 14.2±4.1,t=3.37),rejection(8.6±2.9 / 10.1±3.2,t=2.26;10.9±5.4 / 13.2±6.6,t=1.99),overprotection of father(10.2±2.5 / 10.7±3.5,t=2.00) were significantly lower than the control group(P0.05);in the same way,the scales of factors of conduct(0.9±0.4 / 1.2±0.4,t=3.74),study(0.9±0.7 / 1.9±0.8,t=6.16),impulsion-hyperactivity(0.7±0.5 / 1.1±0.9,t=2.42),Conners Index of Hyperactivity(CIH)(1.1±0.2 / 1.5±0.2,t=5.99) were significantly lower than the control group(P0.05).Conclusion: The family intervention can effectively improve family environment and the parentalrearing pattern of children with ADHD,and promote their healing in family.
