Flavonoid myrisetin promotes long-term potentiation in rat hippocampal CA1 region in vivo

Objective:To study the effect of flavonoid myrisetin on long-term potentiation(LTP) in rat hippocampal CA1 region in vivo.Methods:Stereotaxic apparatus was used to fix the head of rat.The coordinators of stimulation and recoarding electrodes were aligned according to brain stereotaxic atlas.LTP was tested by in vivo electrophysiological technique.Results:Oral administration of flavonoid myrisetin had no effect on the induction of LTP by the strong tetanus with 100 pulses at 100 Hz,but promoted the induction of LTP by the weak tetanus with 20 pulses at 100 Hz,which alone did not successfully induce LTP.Conclusion:Oral administration of flavonoid myrisetin can promote the hippocamal synaptic plasticity.
