Effect of probiotics for Gastroesophageal reflux in premature infants

Objective:To investigate the effects of probiotics for Gastroesophageal reflux in premature infants.Methods:80 premature infants were devidied into 2 groups,40 cases were treated with probiotics,40 cases of control group were treated with usually way,The distal 24 h esophageal pH monitoring was performed in all premature infants.Results:The 24h esophageal pH monitoring revealed that the variables of acid reflux in probiotics group were significantly lower than those controls.the number of reflux episodes was 28.7±5.2,the number of reflux over 5 rain was 4.7±0.7,the longest time of reflux was 11.6±1.1min,the total time of pH4 was2007-12-07 32.6±8.4.8min,the reflux index was 5.5±0.6.Conclusion:probiotics can significantly decrease Gastroesophageal reflux in premature infants.
