Effect of Codonopsis pilosula var. modesta on anti-oxidation of skin tissue of aged mice induced by D-galactose

Objective: To investigate the mechanism of Codonopsis pilosula var. modesta decoction on the skin. Method: SPF mice were evenly randomize into the blank control group,the model group,positive control group( the model + VE group),the model + Codonopsis pilosula var.modesta of high dose group( 5g /kg) and the model + Codonopsis pilosula of low dose group( 15g /kg),sub-acutely aging model was estbalished by injecting of 5% D-galactose into neck subcutaneously for consecutive 6w. Observe morphological changes of aging mice induced by D-galactose. Detect the level of malondialdehyde( MDA),lipofuscin( LF),superoxide dismutase( SOD),ATP enzyme and hydroxyproline( HYP) of entaneou tissue. Result: Under microscope,in the model + low dose Codonopsis pilosula var. modesta group and the model + high dose Codonopsis pilosula var. modesta group,the dermis layer of skin was thicker,fiber increased significantly with close arrangement,and skin morphological structure was closer to the normal control group. MDA and LF were lower significantly( P 0. 05). SOD and ATP activity increased considerably( P 0. 05). HYP rose( P 0. 05). Conclusion: Gansu Codonopsis pilosula var. modesta have anti-aging effect in improving the pathological change and balancing free radical metabolism,and the high dose effect was better than that of low dose.
