Relationship between pulling force and major chemical components in flue-cured tobacco leaves

The pulling force and major chemical components of different grades of 206 flue-cured tobacco samples from Yuxi city of Yunnan Province were determined and their relationships were also analyzed.The results showed that there existed widely variation for pulling force and major chemical components among different samples,the pulling force had significant negative correlation with nicotine content,and positive correlation with nictine content,and had positive correlations with reducing sugar content and soluble sugar content,and had non-significant correlation with total nitrogen content.Based on the correlation analysis,regression equations were built between the pulling force and major chemical components,and found that major chemical components could be kept in the proper range when the pulling force was controlled in range of 1.10 N ~ 2.20 N.
