Study on Effect of Electroacupuncture at Zusanli(ST36) Point in Regulating the Pylorus Peristaltic Function

Qian Li-wei, Lin Ya-ping, et al First Affiliated Hospital, Hunan College of TCM, Changsha (410007)
The effect of electroacupuncture at Zusanli (ST36) point in regulating the human pylorussphincter pressure was investigated in this study by means of the endoscopic manometry. The resultshowed: After electrostimulating Zusanli point, the amplitude of the low wave of pylorus sphincterpressure was raised and the amplitude of the high wave was reduced significantly while theamplitude of the middle wave did not reveal significant change, compared with the results of thecontrols and the non-acupuncture point group. It is indicated that Zusanli poiot may have dual effecton the regulation of the pylorus peristaltic function, which expressed itself as enhancing thehypofunction and weakening the hyperfunction of pylorus peristalsis.
