Objective To observe the recurrent hemorrhage and mortality rates treated by stereotactic CT guided drain and aspiration and medicine in intracerebral hemorrhagic patients, try to discuss the cause of recurrent hemorrhage and evaluate the treatment of surgery. Methods Recurrent hemorrhage and mortality rates of forty eight intracerebral hemorrhagic patients were observed, whose hematoma volume was more than 35 ml and was treated by stereotactic CT guided drain and aspiration. Eighty three identical typical patients treated by medicine one year ago were compared. Results The recurrent hemorrhage rate of surgical patients was higher than nonsurgery patients ( P 0.05 ), The mortality latter was less than the former ( P 0.05 ), the mean time in hospital was shorter than the latter. Conclusion Recurrent hemorrhage is the main cause of death after stereotactic CT guided drain and aspiration in intracerebral hemorrhage, but the surgery can shorten the course of disease, reduce the mortality and the complication. In order to reduce recurrent hemorrhage rate we must pay attention to its adaption and contraindiction.
