Self-propagation High Temperature Sintering from Cu-Ti-graphite-diamond System

Cu-Ti-graphite-diamond mixed powders are used as the starting materials for the fabrication of Cu/TiC bonded diamond composites by self-propagation high temperature sintering(SHS).The sample is analyzed by XRD and SEM combined with EDS.The result shows that Cu-TiC-CuTiX bonded diamond composites are produced by SHS technology.Meanwhile,small amounts of CuTiXphase also exists in the products.When Cu content in the sample is higher(≥70%),the phase of the products is basically Cu.Meanwhile,small amounts of TiC also exists.When Cu content in the sample is lower(≤50%),the phase of the products is TiC and CuTiX.Meanwhile,small amounts of TiC also exists.The fracture morphology of samples shows that diamond has a good bonding with the matrix.
