Simulation of Mold Filling and Temperature Field of Mold in Metal Mold Gravity Casting by ProCAST

Heat balance of metal mold is critical to the quality of castings and the serving life of the mold.Temperature distribution of mold determines the degree that the mold enduring thermal stress.Temperature distribution of mold in metal mold gravity casting has been analyzed by using FEM software ProCAST.The influences of natural cooling condition and force cooling condition have been investigated.The results showed that temperature changed with the increase of casting cycles,the steady temperature gradient was founded inside casting mold in seven casting cycles,and then heat balance of metal mold was reached gradually.
