Effect of Flux Purification on Fluidity of Mg-Gd-Y-Zr Magnesium Alloy

Influences of different fluxes purification including RJ-6,RJ-6+5%GdCl3,RJ-6+5%YCl3,JDMJ+ X%GdCl3,JDMJ+X%YCl3 on the fluidity of Mg-10Gd-3Y-Zr magnesium alloy have been studied. The results show that,JDMJ+5%YCl3 flux and RJ-6+5%GdCl3 flux can significantly improve the fluidity of the Mg-10Gd-3Y-Zr magnesium alloy,the length of the samples of fluidity was increased from 780 mm to 1 270 mm and 1 113 mm,respectively. The inclusions quantitative analytical method was employed in the experiments and the results show that RJ-6+5%GdCl3 flux and JDMJ+5%YCl3 flux can greatly reduce the inclusions,decrease the viscosity and improve the fluidity of magnesium alloy.
