High Temperature Creep Behavior of Mg-5Gd-3Y-0.5Zr Cast Magnesium Alloy

The high temperature creep behavior of Mg-5Gd-3Y-0.5Zr cast magnesium alloy under different experimental temperature and stress have been studied. The results show that Mg-5Gd-3Y-0.5Zr alloy has the most stable performance of creep resistance at 200℃/50 MPa, 60 MPa, 70 MPa. The total creep variables after100 h were 0.0267%, 0.0500%, 0.0567%, the steady-state creep rates were 3.10×10-8s-1, 6.48×10-8s-1, 9.06×10-8s-1,respectively. Compared with 200 ℃, the creep strain capacity and rate is higher one to three orders of magnitude under the condition of 250℃ and 300 ℃. According to the stress index n value and the creep activation energy analysis results Qc, the creep mechanism of Mg-5Gd-3Y-0.5Zr alloy under different experimental temperature and stress conditions are different.
