Casting nylon 6(MC nylon 6)/TiO 2nanocomposites were prepared through anionic in-situ polymerization, and their structures and properties were characterized. TEM observation showed that TiO 2 dispersed rather well in MC nylon 6 matrix when the content of TiO 2 was lower than 1 phr. However, when the content of TiO 2 was more than 1 phr, it began to cluster. DSC and XRD analysis demonstrated that nano-TiO 2 played the role of heterogeneous nucleating agent and increased the crystallization temperature of MC nylon 6, but the crystal structure was unchanged. The result of annealing treatment showed that higher temperature annealing or adding nano-TiO 2 favored the development of α form and accelerated the transformation from γ form to α form .The TG curves and mechanical properties testing illustrated that the heat resistance, tensile strength and impact strength of MC nylon 6/TiO 2 in-situ nanocomposites were improved with the addition of nano-TiO 2.
