Study of geogrid-reinforced retaining design method of by FEM

At present,limit equilibrium method is often adopted in the calculation of designing geogrid-reinforced retaining.Geotechnical engineers at home and abroad have done a lot of work to improve the traditional calculating methods recently,while there are lots of defects.This paper firstly analyzed the sliding surface and safety factor,and then analyzed the influencing factors about the geogrid-reinforced retaining.The author makes use of the strength reduction FEM in the design of geogrid-reinforced retaining,verified the stability of geogrid-reinforced retaining and achieved some satisfied results.The new design method can automatic judge the geogrid-reinforced failure model and can consider the stability of geogrid-reinforced retaining influenced by axial stiffness which there is no need for any assumption.It also can design the reasonable spacing and length of the gluten and choose the suitable parameter of gluten include the axial stiffness,strength properties and apparent coefficient of friction which made the design more optimal.It is proved through the calculation examples that this method is more reasonable,reliable and economical in the design of geogrid-reinforced.
