Numerical simulation and evaluation of traditional folk house wind environment in Jinzhong,China——Taking Wangs courtyard in Lingshi,Shanxi for an example

Long-term field measurements of the indoor and outdoor temperatures and air speed and analysis of the features of overall planning and layout were used to analyze the thermal environment,influenced by natural ventilation,in the typical Jinzhong traditional folk house in the central of Shanxi province.The natural ventilation of the traditional folk house was revealed by computational fluid dynamics(CFD) numerical simulation in summer and in winter,respectively.The results show that the courtyard air temperature is lower than outdoors but higher than indoors in summer;avoiding the influence of cold wind on courtyard thermal environment effectively,thereby reducing air infiltration in winter.However,the main bedroom without wall windows,the effect of natural ventilation is poor,should be improved.
