Experimental study of the influence of bolt pretension on flange joints rigidity in substation steel structures

The bolts used in flange joints on substation steel structures often cannot achieve the specified pretension because of the bad construction and installation environment.In order to research the influence of bolt pretension on the flange joints rigidity,a pair of rigid flange joint test specimen and a pair of flexible flange joint test specimen were conducted comparison test.Many kinds of load were exerted the test specimens and the deformation of bolts,inner edge of flange plates,relative slip of flange plates and top of specimens were all investigated.The results indicated that the axial rigidity,shear rigidity and bending rigidity of both rigid flange joint and flexible flange joint with fastening torque were all significantly smaller than those of these two joints with standard torque.
