Shear cracking force and diagonal crack width of UHPC beams

To investigate how to calculate ultra-high performance concrete beams shear cracking load and diagonal crack width,nine ultra-high performance concrete T-beams were tested in shear,the test variables included shear span-to-depth ratio,stirrup ratio and level of prestress,and the developing of diagonal cracks were observed. The tests results show that the shear cracking load reduces and the diagonal cracks width growth is rapid with increase of shear span-to-depth ratio; prestress can improve the shear cracking load and delaying the development of diagonal cracks width; increasing stirrup ratio has little effect on the shear cracking load,but can delay the diagonal cracks growth speed. Formulas are suggested to calculate the shear cracking load and the maximum diagonal crack width in serviceability states,and the calculated values by the suggested formulas agree well with the test results.
