Wind tunnel tests research on aerodynamic characteristics of an iced conductor with elastic support

The wind tunnel tests were carried out to obtain the variation laws of static aerodynamic characteristics of crescent shape and D shape iced conductor with different wind speeds,wind attack angles and elastic support stiffness. The test models were made of the actual conductors and had the real rough surface. Test results show that the icing shape is the key factor to affect the aerodynamic characteristics of iced conductor. For the crescent shape iced conductor,the initial torsional displacement caused by the high wind speed at the angle of attack of 0 ° makes the aerodynamic coefficient curves of the conductor different from that of the low wind speed when the elastic support stiffness is minimum. In addition,the variation of wind speed has a relatively large influence on the aerodynamic coefficients of the conductor and the effect increases with the increase of the elastic support stiffness. The influence of wind speed on aerodynamic coefficients of D shape iced conductor is mainly reflected in the variation of drag coefficient,which increases with the increase of elastic support stiffness. With the increase of the elastic support stiffness,the lift coefficient and torsion coefficient curves of the crescent shape iced conductor form an obvious peak phenomenon at the range of 0 ° ~ 15° of wind attack angle,meanwhile,the wind attack angle position corresponding to the maximum value of the lift coefficient and torsion coefficient of the D shape iced conductor appears a backward moving phenomenon.
