Wind tunnel test study on characteristics of wind load distribution of asymmetric connected twin-tower tall building

In order to study the wind load interference effect between towers of twin-tower tall building,a wind tunnel test on the rigid model of an asymmetrical connected twin-tower tall building is conducted to obtain the distribution of the average wind pressure coefficient of the two single tower. Then the local shape coefficient and the average integral body coefficient of the twin-tower building are obtained by further data process to study the characteristics of wind load distribution and the interference effect between two towers.The results show that there is negative pressure on the windward side and positive pressure on the leeward side due to the interference of neighboring towers and the connected structure; the interference effect has much more influence on wind load in X direction than that in Y direction. The average integral body coefficient of twin-tower building is within the code requirements,in other words,the design tends to be safe. The body coefficient of middle connected structure in Y direction is relatively large due to"slit effect",thus the design of the wind load should be strengthened.
