Effect of fiber content on plastic shrinkage of engineered cementitious composite

Application of engineered cementitious composite( ECC) was directly influenced by early plastic shrinkage. The effect of fiber volume fraction on early plastic shrinkage of ECC was researched by means of non-contact sensor. The results showed that the early plastic shrinkage of ECC decreased with the increasing of polyvinyl alcohol( PVA) fiber volume fraction,whose content was from 0 to 0. 9%. However,the early plastic shrinkage stabilized when the fiber volume fraction was more than 0. 9%. Formula for predicting early shrinkage of high fiber volume fraction ECC was designed by regression analysis based on the test results.
