Research on mix proportion design of lightweight aggregate concrete for plant-growing applied to roofs

In order to determine the optimal mix proportion of lightweight aggregate concrete for plant-growing applied to roofs,experiment is carried out by this paper to research the effect of factors including goal porosity,water-binder ratio,mineral admixtures on properties of lightweight aggregate concrete for plant-growing. The results indicate that with the increase of the goal porosity,the compressive strength of lightweight aggregate concrete for plant-growing decreases,the deviate degree between measured porosity and goal porosity increases and pH value decreases. With the increase of the water-binder ratio,the compressive strength of concrete is continuously decreased,measured porosity increases and pH value decreases slightly. The pH value of concrete mixing with mineral admixtures is declined in a certain degree. The pH value of concrete mixing with zeolite powder or composite addition of mineral admixture decrease obviously. The optimal mix proportion is goal porosity 30%,water-binder ratio 0. 30,zeolite powder 25% or composite addition of mineral admixture( fly ash 20%,zeolite powder 15%,silica fume 5%),concrete for plant-growing can achieve good comprehensive properties in terms of strength,porosity and pH value.
