Seismic behavior of a new vertical half dovetail joint

The traditional tenon and mortise joint are more common with dovetail tenon,mortise and tenon,and so on. Due to the shortcomings of traditional dovetail joint,such as weakening the cross section area of the column,and easy to pull out during the traditional tenon earthquake,a vertical semi dovetail joint structure for beam column of wooden structure is proposed. We made the traditional mortise joints,a new type of vertical half dovetail joints( side column and middle column connection),a new type of vertical half dovetail joints( middle column and beam connection) and in accordance with the single tenon joints model of 1 ∶ 4. 8 scale,comparative analysis of seismic performance for a new type of vertical half dovetail joint. Three models were tested by low cycle reciprocating test. The test results show that the three models are almost no damage to the beam and column,and the main tenon joints are pullout failure,while the new vertical half dovetail tenon is the failure of the tenon neck. From the hysteresis curve,the hysteresis curves of the three models all appear to be inverse S shape,and all have a certain pinch effect. However,the pinching effect of the new vertical half dovetail joint is lower than that of the traditional straight tenon joint. The rotational bending moment,stiffness and energy dissipation capacity of the new vertical half dovetail tenon joint are better than that of the traditional joint.
