Mechanical properties of a practical new isolation bearing for bridges

The design of isolated bridge bears are dissipated the seismic energy by the deformation of the seismic isolation device. In order to meet the displacement requirement of bridges under operation and dissipation requirement of bridges under earthquake at the same time,a practical new isolated bridge bearing was designed in this paper based on the combination of lead-rubber bearings and friction pendulum bearings. The bearing was connected by two parts through embedded in slip-isolation transfer device. Firstly,the configuration of the bearing in detail and its operating principle was illustrated. The mechanical characteristics of the bearing was then validated. Finally,a series of the relative shear performance tests including various shear displacements,various vertical compressed stress and various slippage,were conducted to obtain the curve of shear deformation performance. Therefore,the isolated bridge bearing could simultaneously satisfy the requirements of displacement and dissipation,which could provide an important reference for the further optimal design and engineering application of isolated bridge bearings.
