Summary of research on setting time of cement-based materials by ultrasonic wave

Setting time is one of the important performance properties of cement-based materials. Compared to the penetration resistance method for measuring the setting time specified in the standard,ultrasonic methods which include ultrasonic transmission method( USWT) and ultrasonic reflection method( USWR) have the advantages of non-destructive,continuous monitoring,and in-situ testing potential. The basic principles,test equipment,influencing factors and determination methods of the setting time of the two ultrasonic methods were described in detail,and the existing problems of the two methods were summarized. Regardless of USWT or USWR,the determination of a uniform and reliable judgment method of the setting time is the current research focus.
