STUDY ON THE SPECTRAL CHARACTERISTICS OF YELLOW PREHNITE

In this paper, we researched the spectral characteristics of yellow prehnite by using Fourie transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, combined with polarizing microscope and common gemmogical methods. The prehnite shows typical micro-intertexture structure. Si-O functions caused characteristic infrared absorption peaks and Raman spectra between 900~1100 cm~(-1) and400~800 cm~(-1). While OH~- caused 3495 cm~(-1) infrared absorption peaks and 320 cm~(-1), 390 cm~(-1) Raman spectra. In the UV-Vis absorption spectra, yellow prehnite shows 430 nm and 580 nm bands, so it is inferred that the yellow prehnite may be caused by Fe~(3+).
