PREDICTION OF PETROGRAPHIC PARAMETERS OF SANDSTONE BY MEANS OF PROPAGATION VELOCITY

The Propagation velocity of longitudinal waves was measured of 245 sandstone samples and by means of correlation and regression statistics. Its dependence on other petrographic parameters (i. e. , propagation velocity , effective porocity , median values of grain size distributions , matrix and cement contents) was investigated.The analysis of the dependence of velocity on each petrographic parameter shows that the influence of effective porocity on propagation velocity is the most significant.
