Research of Pine Pollen Balsam Pear & Mulberry Leaf Powder in Reducing Rats Blood Glucose

[Objective] To research the hypoglycemic effect of pine pollen balsam pear mulberry leaf powder,and provide scientific basis for its function of auxiliary reducing blood glucose as functional food.[Method] Normal rats and alloxan(ALX)-induced diabetes model rats were divided into groups randomly by weight and given intragastric administration.Then their fasting blood glucose were tested and oral starch tolerance test(OSTT) were done.[Result] Three dosages were given in intragastric administration for 15 days: 13.6,6.6,3.3 g/kg.The dosage of 13.6 g/kg had the best effect and the result was statistical significant(P0.01).Three dosages were given in intragastric administration for 35 days: 13.6,6.6,3.3 g/kg.The fasting blood glucose of alloxan(ALX)-induced diabetes rats with 13.6 g/kg dosage were reduced significantly(P0.05).The blood glucose of alloxan(ALX)-induced diabetes rats with high,medium or low level dosages were all reduced obviously.[Conclusion] As to the test of fasting blood glucose,the results of pine pollen balsam pear mulberry leaf powder in reducing the fasting blood glucose of normal rats and alloxan(ALX)-induced diabetes rats were both positive.The result of pine pollen balsam pear mulberry leaf powder in OSTT of alloxan(ALX)-induced diabetes rats was positive.The results of OSTT of alloxan(ALX)-induced diabetes rats with three dosages were positive.
